Optimal chemoprophylaxis and treatment control strategies of a tuberculosis transmission model
نویسنده
چکیده
A tuberculosis model which incorporates treatment of infectives and chemoprophylaxis is considered. For this model, controls on treatment, chemoprophylaxis and disease relapse are incorporated to reduce the latently infected and actively infected individual populations, via application of the Pontryagins Maximum Principle of optimal control theory.

Mathematical Model for Transmission Dynamics of Hepatitus C Virus with Optimal Control Strategies
An epidemic model with optimal control strategies was investigated for Hepatitus C Viral disease that can be transmitted through infected individuals. In this study, we used a deterministic compartmental model for assessing the effect of different optimal control strategies for controlling the spread of Hepatitus C disease in the community. Stability theory of differential equations is us...
متن کاملCost-effectiveness of screening compared to case-finding approaches to tuberculosis in long-term care facilities for the elderly.
BACKGROUND To determine if the more interventionist approach of screening with the tuberculin test and chemoprophylaxis for high-risk positive reactors to control tuberculosis in long-term care facilities is cost-effective when compared to the case-finding and treatment approach. METHOD A decision-analysis model was designed wherein systematic screening with the tuberculin skin test of all el...
متن کاملTime Delay and Associated Factors in Diagnosis and Treatment of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Markazi Province
Introduction: Delay in the diagnosis of tuberculosis increases the risk of death and enhances the transmission of disease in the community. This study aims to determine the patient and health service delay and factors affecting it in tuberculosis diagnosis. Materials & Methods: A cross-sectional survey that included all the public health centers was conducted in Markazi province from March 200...
متن کاملEconomic evaluation of strategies for the control and management of influenza in Europe.
We compared the cost-effectiveness of different strategies for the control and management of influenza for the elderly populations in three European countries (England and Wales, France, Germany). A "no intervention" scenario was compared with six control strategies: opportunistic vaccination (passive recruitment), comprehensive vaccination programmes (active recruitment), 4 weeks chemoprophyla...
متن کاملOptimal Control of Infectious Diseases in a Population with Heterogeneous Dynamic Immunity
Exposure to infectious agents triggers immune responses in individual hosts. Heterogeneity of immune responses of the individual hosts and the host population affects the transmission dynamics of the infectious agent. We extend a previously developed epidemiological modelling approach where heterogeneity of individual-specific immunity was incorporated and explore optimal control problems assoc...
